Busy week, and yet exciting.

Boy, we had a huge week, but quite enjoyable!  I just finished the 40 bags I had to get done by tonight to send out Monday, I wanted the weekend to work on our house.  We decided to redo all our floors in our house, so we have had all the furniture in the living room and really living in mayhem, surely remodeling has an end date, right? It’s a long process, but the floors look great, and Gus and I will recover soon from the long days of figuring out where to sew and play.  He has been such a trooper about all of it, he thinks of it like an adventure. Don’t you wish we all could look at life through a two-year-old’s point of view?

I have been meaning to share this author and her great book for some time now.  I met Sara Thorson when I spoke at an event in Watertown SD.    She hosted a trunk show and I got to know her even better. She is one ambitous young lady and has the coolest book out.  In fact, her second is coming out soon also.  The book is called “Leaving a Legacy: A Top Ten Diary.”

Here is a look into her book:  Leave A Legacy: A Top 10 Diary by Sara Thorson

In this beautiful book I invite you to record your favorite memories through my brand new guided journal. Utilizing top ten lists, I help you record over 1,000 pieces of information about your life to pass down to your loved ones in the areas of past memories, favorites, dreams, people, regrets and faith. The diary is packed with over 100 questions ranging from “What are your favorite childhood memories?” to “What are the ten most foolish decisions you ever made?” You will be leaving a detailed record of your life in your own words and handwriting that will become a wonderful gift to be passed down for generations.
The book is available through www.amazon.com(search by Sara Thorson) and my website www.sarathorson.com.
So there you have it, a great book, perfect for the holidays that really are coming up!  I hope you had a wonderful week and plan to hear from me soon!  I have created one new style and have more Pixies available as well.  There will be a “Gallery of Pictures”  added to the website www.shoprsd.com to browse  and see where we are and where we have been.  Stay tuned to see them posted!

About

I grew up West River in Philip, South Dakota. From a very young age, I was always playing in mom’s sewing scraps; I could spend hours designing Barbie clothes and hats for my friends. Around the age of ten, I was sewing stocking caps and selling them on the playground to friends. I give my mother all the credit for teaching me how to sew. She spent many long hours helping me sew suits and prom dresses and even bathrobes for demonstrations. Mom also spent many long hours sewing outfits I had designed in my head and needed her to figure out just how to sew it.

I went to college at SDSU and majored in Communications with an emphasis in Radio and TV Broadcasting. Working in radio all throughout high school and college, I figured that was the route to go. I still sewed various outfits or accessories for friends and myself for Christmas and birthdays.

I again really got excited with sewing and designing when my graduation gift for college was a serger from my mom and dad. I continued to save money at Christmas by sewing purses for my friends and family. Word spread fast and soon I was getting calls from people I had never met placing orders for purses. I started small until it took over my life and I knew that this was something God had prepared me for all my life and it was time to embrace it!

To this day, I am still amazed at God’s goodness and His grace – I love designing and would not want any other job in the world. So, with God’s and my husband’s incredible encouragement and support, I decided to launch Rebekah Scott Designs.

Growth, Growth, Growth!

Oh goodness, I know it has been awhile since I updated the blog, but the title really sums up what has been going on and that is so wonderful!  We have been busy filling stock from all the summer shows and getting the fall fabrics in.  I hope you noticed the new swatches on the website, adorable fabrics that are really different and super fun. I already picked out my fabric for the fall season, either Stone Home or the Joel Dewberry addition of the Raspberry Orchid, (purple is my favorite color!).

My family got to go on vacation this last week to northen MN and we fished and just relaxed.  We went with my mom’s side and had a ball with all my cousins and siblings.   Gus even caught his first fish, which is so

true of the vacation, just a great time.  During vacation, I was able to take some time and really think about the direction of “Rebekah Scott Designs” and boy I did some visualizing.  I drew up some new purse styles and brainstormed on how to streamline the ”Olive Branch” line.  Stay tuned for the big debut, I will be offering 7 sizes, up to 4T, with new fabrics and characters.  Can’t wait to get started, I am ordering the fabric this next week.  I also thought about what else do I want to start?  Well eventually I would like to introduce a clothing line. But I have got to educate myself on pattern making, draping, designing and drawing. I can do all of them, just not well enough to launch something.  But I have bought some books and looked into some education avenues, so here we go!!!

Coming up next?  Yankton River Boat Days, August 21, 22nd and 23rd.  We are excited to do the show because it is a first as well for us.  Print this entry and receive 10% off your order or pass along to family and friends who may also atttend.  It’s a great show to wrap up summer shows.  Then we have Sidewalk Arts Festival, and I have some trunk shows in the Minneapolis area.

There’s the latest and wow do I feel good about writing again.  I love what I do and will continue to bring new and exciting things to Rebekah Scott Designs, God is so good and using my talents has really been a blessing ;)
