People Behind the Purses: Elizabeth
My newest purse, the Elizabeth, is our first weekender bag. She is 17″ long and 15″ high, giving plenty of room to pack all your getaway essentials! I love this bag because it’s named after two very important women in my life: my grandmothers!
Pauline Elizabeth Eggers is my dad’s mom, and Elizabeth Gene Christie is my mom’s mom. Both are wonderful women, full of spunk and love! In the Q&A below, I’ll use “E” for Grandma Eggers, and “C” for Grandma Christie.
How do you know Rebekah?
Both: I’m her grandmother.
Give us a brief bio of yourself.
E: I have five kids and they all graduated from SDSU — that’s why we retired in Brookings. I enjoy people and try to get out where the activities are, and my church means a lot to me.
C: I’m a 90-year-old lady and a mother of five girls. I was a farmer’s wife, country school teacher and a piano teacher for 30+ years. My hobbies are flower gardening and sewing.
How many RSD purses do you own?
E: About five.
C: Five now.
Do you have a favorite fabric?
E: Most all that she chose.
C: That changes with the purse!
Do you own the purse named after you? What do you like about it?
E: Yes, she put a zipper on the top.
We’re curious about a few of your “favorites.”
E: I have twelve favorites: great-grandkids!
C: Favorite movie: The Sound of Music and anything with Lucille Ball
Favorite book: I just finished Unbroken. It’s not my favorite, but I’m glad I read it.
Favorite ice cream flavor: Raspberry sherbet without a doubt.
Do you have a quote or motto you live by?
E: I was complaining and my youngest granddaughter said, “I think positive.” What a beautifully thing!
C: “I will be with you always, even until the end of the world.” (Matthew 28:20)
“Judge not, that you be not judged.” (Matthew 7:1)
What is your must-have item in your purse at all times and why?
E: ID card, medical card, and driver’s license. And I do have a pamphlet from when I first got married that has my prayers for the day.
C: My cell phone, just for communication.
