People Behind the Purses: Erin Hegg

Whew! May has been full! From nurse and teacher giveaways to the Gypsy Collection to TWO new bag styles — I’m just getting geared up for summer! :)

Our newest bag (as in brand new) is the Erin, and I want to tell you all about the lovely lady she’s named after.

Erin hosted one of my very first trunk shows, and I just fell in love with how enthusiastic she was. Fast forward to today, and she’s been an RSD sales rep for seven years!

I no longer emphasize trunk shows, but Erin still books them! She truly has the gift of connecting with people. She’s gone through a lot of hard things in life, and I admire how she handles it all. She loves Jesus, and His love pours out of her. When my brother passed away, as tragic as it was, she showed up to the visitation. I don’t even think she knew Philip, and yet there she was! It was one of those “aha” moments of true friendship.

I can’t say enough about her — she’s truly amazing! Make sure to read to the bottom of this post to get to know her yourself. :)

The purse we named after her is the most requested bag we’ve had in the last three years. It’s hard for me to think people would actually want a small purse (cause I love big bags!), but it turned out so cute, I may be convinced just this once. ;)

I designed nothing less than six bags before the Erin was created. But as soon as I showed it to my staff, they went crazy over it! I didn’t want a little pouch, so the final product definitely makes a statement. And I thought it would be perfect for this time of year, since we all like to carry light in summer.

rsd-86.jpgOur other new bag is actually a pair — the Angie and Jovie — also very highly requested. Angie is a laptop bag, named after my awesome executive assistant and friend of mine. And Jovie is a laptop sleeve, named after Angie’s sweet daughter! I was able to give Angie a canvas picture of the two of them (see to the right), and this picture defines why we do this job. Giving this kind of happiness to moms is what RSD is all about!

Now, keep on reading to meet Erin! :)

1. How do you know Rebekah?

I met Bekah at my first RSD trunk show.  I had a plastic tote full of other RSD bags I owned and showed her the styles and remembered the names of the fabrics.  She got a kick out of it and offered me a job as a representative the next day.

2. Give us a brief bio of yourself.

My name is Erin Hegg, I have lived in Brookings for a good majority of my life.  I am a single mother of three kids, two boys and one girl.  Andrew is 9, Tyler is 6, and Mira is 5.  I work full-time at Dakotaland Community Insurance as an agent.  I love to kayak, camp, read and play disc golf!

3. How many RSD purses do you own?

I own a lot of RSD bags, probably around 20, maybe more???

4. Do you have a favorite fabric?

My favorite fabric is from the first bag I owned called Aqua Circle which is no longer in circulation.  My current fave is Sketched Blooms!

5. Do you own the Erin bag yet? What do you like about it?

I do not own it yet, but I will!  I’m so excited!  I go to concerts and other events where a smaller purse is ideal!

6. We're curious about a few of your favorites: favorite movie? favorite book? favorite ice cream?

Favorite movie is Steel Magnolias.  My favorite book is Alias Grace, and I love chocolate ice cream.  I love to listen to music and podcasts!

7. Do you have a quote or motto you live by?

I live by the saying, “Wherever you are, be all there.”  It helps keep me in the present, regardless of the situation.

8. Do you have a must-have item in your purse, and why?

My must have item is a RSD cosmetic.  No matter what ends up in my purse, I can keep it organized in my cosmetic!
