People Behind the Purses: Melissa

My mother, Peggy, is one of five girls, and I am so thankful for each of her sisters! They have been such a blessing to me over the years. You’ve already heard a bit about Jill, and hopefully soon I’ll have a purse named after Bonnie and Gretchen!

This short Q&A features the youngest Christie sister – Melissa. Or, as everyone calls her, Missy. The Melissa purse is one of my favorites, as it versatile for mommies, travelers, or any woman! It can be worn in four different ways: briefcase, shoulder, cross body and backpack.

Missy isn’t too many years older than I am, actually. We cousins just adored her growing up! I loved seeing her and copying her every move. I wanted to be her when I grew up, but it turns out she is brilliant and I could never have kept up with her in schooling! She is a pillar of strength, dignity, integrity and everything a niece would want to be.

I hope you enjoy learning a bit about my super smart and loving aunt!

How do you know Rebekah?

She’s my niece.

Give us a brief bio of yourself.

I have a wonderful husband of nearly 17 years and two delightful and talented girls, Jocelyn, 13, and Cassidy, 12. I have worked at Medtronic for 20 years doing research on heart failure and the physiology of pacing (resynchronizing) the heart to pump blood more effectively in its diseased state. Time away from work is mostly spent running the girls to and from their activities and lessons, and helping them with school work.

How many RSD purses do you own?

Five.

Do you own the purse named after you? What do you like about it?

Not yet, but it’s the next one I would like to order. I carry my briefcase, my workout bag, my lunch bag, and my purse to and from work every day, so having one that has multiple carrying options is appealing.

We’re curious about a few of your “favorites.”

My favorite ice cream flavor is mint-oreo.

Do you have a quote or motto you live by?

“The only constant in life is change.”

What is your must-have item in your purse at all times and why?

Keys, wallet, cell phone (all pretty obvious).
