Celebrating 20 Years in Business
How can it be? Has Rebekah Scott Designs really been going for 20 years?!
I love to pay attention to important dates and to celebrate milestones, but to be honest, this one snuck up on me! I recently needed to reference my sales license, and I saw I started in 2004. Well, this is a reason to party! :)
Of course, this means a big sale, starting today, August 28. It will be a tiered sale, meaning that the more you stock up on RSD goodies, you’ll save even more! Make sure to get on our texting list so you can get all the details!
We also have a couple fun podcasts coming up to talk about the last 20 years. I recently had a blast recording a travel episode with Sarah, and we reminisced and laughed about all sorts of memories we’ve shared together. And let me tell you, we have lots of travel stories. Also, I have one coming up with Ellie Saxer about what it means to operate a business for 20 years.
(See that photo to the right? God has been preparing me for a purse business for a very long time!)
Celebrating this anniversary has given me an extra boost of confidence. Encouraging others has been on my heart for a long time now, but it is encouraging to me that 20 years of experience really does give me something to offer. I’ve learned how important it is as a small business owner to surround yourself with people who cheer you on through the highs and lows — because you will have plenty of both!
As I reflect over these last two decades, it hits me that I really grew this business slowly. (This isn't what the experts advise!) It has taken 20 years to get to a team of 20 — which I am so thankful for. I have always been much more strategic about how I prioritize my family than how I grew my business. And in this, God has blessed me; I’m close with my husband and my children, and that’s not something that is easy for business owners.
That brings me to another bit of advice: choose the right spouse! :) When you have to tell your husband that you’re not paying yourself yet again, and they keep cheering you on, it’s pretty profound.
As I think back to the early days, it is humbling to think about where we’ve come. I never anticipated a team of 20 people. I also never anticipated my name becoming a noun! “Oh, you have a Rebekah Scott!” It’s kind of fun. :)
Going forward with RSD, I always think three years ahead, and my plan is to continue dialing in on the online experience. I can also see myself writing a book about grit, and of course, I plan to prioritize my family.
Here’s to as many more years as God gives me!
Love,
Bekah
PS: One last celebration I forgot to mention: I plan to go skydiving to celebrate 20 years in business and 250 episodes of the Encourager. :)
