My Summer Reading List

Don’t you love this time of year? Summer is just around the corner, our days are getting longer, and time is starting to feel just a little slower. In my mind, it’s the perfect time of year to pull out our reading lists and get back into some good books.

I come from a long line of readers, so enjoying stories and learning something new from books has always been a part of my life. But I know there are seasons, both in life and throughout the year, when reading can happen more easily. For me, now is the time!

I’ve spent a lot of time organizing my favorite books by category, all found on my master book recommendation list on the Encourager. I’ve also written reviews so you can quickly know if it is something you’d be interested in.

Here are just a few that would make especially great summer reads. But make sure to check out the full list for extra inspiration!

  1. The Four Winds by Kristen Hannah: Really, anything by Kristen Hannah would make a great summer book! Be forewarned: You might stay up much later than planned if you are a nighttime reader like me. I could not put this one down.
  2. The Gist by Michael Anderson and Timothy Johanson: I think summer can be a great time for parenting reflection, and The Gist is one of my favorite parenting books.
  3. Dump Dinners by Cathy Mitchell: This is a great time to try out a couple new recipes — and these ones are so simple! They are easy enough for kids to follow, which is perfect because summer is also a great time for them to learn something new as well. And yes, I think a cookbook counts for summer reading! ;)

And lastly, if you need a little incentive to inspire you to pull off that book from your shelf, how about a cute new bookmark? :) Our Summer Shop is open, and you can scroll through to find our 1984 leather bookmarks in multiple colors.

Happy reading!
