People Behind the Purses: Peggy

My mom is my 10 a.m. coffee break everyday. We speak about three times a day, and she is the best and most supportive mom I could ask for! Having her on my team is a dream come true. I wanted to do just what she did: raise babies at home and sew. I get to do what I do because she plowed the way! I am so proud of her, and so thankful for her example.

Also, my mom has the “woo” factor. People from EVERYWHERE know my mom! She is very kind and always engaging. No one leaves a stranger after meeting her — a trait I long to have!

So, without further ado, meet Peggy!

How do you know Rebekah?

I am blessed to be Bekah’s mother.

Give us a brief bio of yourself. (Tell us about your family, your job, your hobbies, etc.)

I work part-time for the First United Methodist Church in Brookings, SD, as their Hospitality and New Member Coordinator. I love meeting new people and helping them find a place to feel at home in our church family. My husband, Bud, and I have been married for 42 years, and in addition to Bekah and her twin Sarah, we also have two sons, Philip and Josh. I would have to say that our grandchildren, Gus, Ivy, Rozelyn, Olive and Stein, are my favorite hobby, but I also love to sew, and am blessed to be able to also do that for a living while working with Bekah. I love decorating, and I do some window treatments on the side also, but I seem to keep running out of time for everything, just like so many of you.

How many RSD purses do you own?

I own 15 of Bekah’s purses, and she’s always bringing me a new one to try out.

Do you own the purse named after you? What do you like about it?

Yes, I own the one’s named after me. The first was a pretty Peggy, and now it’s the zippered Peggy that I love!! I love the pockets on the outside!

We’re curious about a few of your “favorites.”

Right now, my favorite movie is “The Help”. One of my favorite foods is movie popcorn.

Do you have a quote or motto you live by?

“For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you saith the Lord.” Jeremiah 29:11, is my favorite Bible verse.

What is your must-have item in your purse at all times and why?

As I said before, my favorite thing to have in my purse is not inside, it’s the outside pockets.

Life with a daughter like Bekah has always been exciting, and I can only guess at what God has in store for her and her family.
